SLOW ON THE DAILY

MOVEMENTS & MOMENTS

Why slow & steady practice daily

creates real change long term

Time seems to be moving at a rapid pace, sometimes leaving us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed out. We're constantly striving to do more in less time and as we know, this often leads to burnout and a sense of never having enough time to do the things we enjoy.

What if we told you that slowing down with discipline could actually expand time? Yes, you read that right! By adopting a slower pace and exercising patience you can experience a state of flow that allows you to live in the moment, accomplish more while feeling deeply connected and relaxed.

The Flow State and Zone

When you practice slow flow yoga, you enter a state of flow. Flow is a state of mind where you're completely immersed in an activity, fully focused and engaged, and experience a sense of timelessness. In this state, you're able to accomplish more, feel more creative and productive, and enjoy the present moment. Flow state is sometimes referred to as the "flow zone," and it's a powerful tool for anti-ageing and lifestyle optimisation.

What is Slow Flow Yoga?

Slow flow yoga is a gentle and mindful practice that combines breath with movement. It involves slow and deliberate transitions between poses, giving you the opportunity to pay close attention to your body's sensations. This style of yoga is ideal for those who want to slow down and cultivate a deeper mind-body connection. Slow flow yoga online classes are readily available, making it easy to practice from the comfort of your own home.

Anti-ageing Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has long been known to have anti-ageing benefits. The slow, deliberate movements of slow flow yoga can help reduce stress and anxiety, these two things experienced long-term can lead to premature ageing. Practicing yoga regularly can also help improve flexibility, strength, and balance, which can help prevent age-related injuries. Additionally, yoga can help boost your immune system, improve digestion, and lower blood pressure, all of which can contribute to a healthier, longer life.

Lifestyle Optimisation and Habits

Slowing down and doing slow flow yoga online is just one way to optimise your lifestyle. By adopting healthy habits, such as practicing yoga, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and managing stress, you can improve your overall well-being and quality of life. Small changes can make a big difference, and by making a conscious effort to slow down and take care of yourself, you can create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

It’s important to practice each new habit with discipline and consistency. Maintaining a schedule of movement classes will ensure the habit sticks long-term. Slowing down to expand time may seem counterintuitive, but in fact it's a powerful method for improving your overall well-being and quality of life.

I personally adore Slow Flow movement, as a mother of two and a business person I am constantly trying to get sh*t done, and fast. I juggle all the tasks and utilise every waking moment to achieve and be productive (sometimes what I categorise as productivity is not the normal definition of the term ~ but I will save that conversation for another blog!).

There are specific moments I balance the day with going slow, one of these times is when I am on the mat or in my movement practice. Definitely a favourite type of Slow Flow, for me, is a heated practice (either warm or hot) ~ you can create this in your lounge room by just having some heating on. The reason I prefer a warm flowing practice is it allows me to move into postures completely, without restriction or contraction from cold air. This, in combination with the inner warmth created by breath and holding into postures, helps me to maintain a glow and vitality while I’m moving. We commonly envisage the concept of love as a “warm feeling” and when surrounded by warmth ~ while cultivating inner warmth ~ there’s a wonderful ‘baking of the soul’ that can occur. Feeling completely supported and sending warmth and love to your own self.

Slow flow yoga is a gentle and mindful practice that can help you enter a state of flow, improve your health, and boost your productivity, (something we all need at times). By adopting healthy habits and making time for self-care, you can optimise your lifestyle and live your best life. So why not pop on a heater and try a slow flow yoga online class today to experience the benefits of slowing down for yourself?
